3L Capital Offices – New York City
| November 16, 2020FLOAT Studio was tasked with giving the 3L Capital offices an update for safety and collaboration in a new work environment in New York City, New York.
In a post-COVID landscape, 3L wanted the space to prioritize comfort so Float gave it touches that felt more residential: layered natural materials and textures such as sisal carpet, grasscloth wallpaper, light and dark wood tones in the furniture and millwork.
In the closed rooms the carpet has been pulled away from the walls slightly to make the commercial carpet look like area rugs instead of typical wall to wall carpeting. The furniture around the space is varied, feeling collected and curated as it would be in a home.
A base of tonal whites and light wood make variations of the brand colors really pop, adding richness and elevating the design. Custom walnut built-in shelving is designed to ground the main open office space and add a little drama and give the vibe of a residential library. A centrally located pantry and main lounge to make the small space feel large and open and to maximize natural light throughout the office.
Personal lockers were incorporated into the shelving so that team members could keep their personal belongings close to them but off their desks, perfect for the “shift” method of returning to the office or in a setup with unassigned desks.
A model on how to remain warm and inviting while being built for hygiene and safety. 3L’s post-COVID environment allows for relaxed spacing in a variety of areas while allowing occupants to stay focused and connected to others in the firm.
