PANAC Offices – Tokyo
| August 11, 2021The Design Studio K.K. used the inspiration of flowing water to complete the PANAC offices in Tokyo, Japan.
PANAC has multiple manufacturing sites around the world. For its latest office, it aimed for a space embodying the feeling of a seaside port, where a range of information comes together and is broadcast far and wide. The layout and sightlines resemble the flow of commerce and interchange spanning from the sea, to the docks, to inland rivers, and then through the mountains and back again.
Key details: 1) PANAC products are displayed in a showroom near the entrance, ensuring that they will be seen by visitors, which fosters communication and encourages people and information to “flow” inward to the office; 2) the two “docks” positioned at the sides of the workspace feature different designs and suggest the contrasting shores of a body of water. These docks serve as a place to relax and unwind, as well as communicate with others; 3) the office and workspace are designed to resemble a body of water, with minimal partitions and tall storage cabinets installed. Instead, the space has a sense of openness and visual clarity that fosters the flow of people and information.
