Tailor Inc Offices – Auckland
| February 4, 2021Tailor Inc took on the task to design their project management firm offices located in Auckland, New Zealand.
The design of the Tailor Inc’s office environment honours & enhances the heritage and history of the Masonic Buckland building it is housed within. Located in the central city of Auckland, New Zealand, the property is situated near the main Britomart square which is surrounded by numerous prominent eateries.
With its 130 years of adaptation, change and reuse, all the internal surfaces in the building have a story to tell. The contrasting brickwork, open portals and layers of finishes which are akin to patchwork, are all reminiscent of the occupants from years gone by. The untouched Kauri timber floors and beams were some of the last of their kind to be laid in the Britomart precinct, and make up an integral part of the building with the presence of previous residents etched into the beams and columns throughout, as a form of historical graffiti.
The design of the Tailor Inc office works to enable staff to be the best they can be, instilling pride in themselves to come to work each day. They value flexibility, transparency, and collaboration and these are represented through the placement of amenities, the look & feel of the spaces and how they are inhabited. The selection of materials and finishes complements the heritage of the building, speaks to the Tailor brand, and supports the notion of ‘family’.
A central social hub comprising of a kitchen and lounge brings the teams together, whilst acting as an intimate after-hours events space.
The casual flow between individual and collaborative work settings enables teams to choose how and where they wish to work. Together with the amenities located on Ground Floor in The Hotel Britomart, the concept of ‘work’ has blurred into retail and hospitality. The Tailor office is a prime example of what Auckland’s inner city living and working is all about.
